Drumshanbo is a friendly town in beautiful County Leitrim, surrounded by lakes and countryside, with shops, cafés, sporting facilities and everyday amenities locally. Carrick-on-Shannon is also nearby, offering a wider selection of shops, restaurants, leisure facilities and transport connections.

Sligo and ATU Sligo are accessible both by car and public transport. The journey to Sligo is approximately 40–45 minutes by car, depending on traffic and destination.

For students without a car, TFI Local Link Route 572 provides a direct scheduled bus service between Drumshanbo and Sligo and serves the ATU Sligo campus itself. There are multiple services throughout the day, making it possible to travel between Drumshanbo and ATU/Sligo by public transport.
